Our plant located in Sterling Heights, MI is looking for a highly motivated and results-driven Controls Engineer to join our team.

The Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, programming, commissioning, optimization, and maintenance of automated manufacturing systems including PLCs, industrial robots, HMIs, vision systems, and plant automation equipment.

What you'll do

  • Develop/program/troubleshoot PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) maintain revisions/version control and system updates.
  • Modify/optimize ladder logic, structured text, FBD; support commissioning, startup, validation.
  • Diagnose controls downtime and maintain electrical/controls documentation.
  • Program/teach/optimize Fanuc robots; improve paths/cycle time; integrate robots with PLCs, conveyors, tooling, vision; ensure safe operation.
  • Integrate HMI, SCADA, sensors, safety circuits, industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, DeviceNet).
  • Support vision/poka-yoke, provide shift support, reduce downtime through preventive/predictive maintenance, improve OEE.
  • Support launches/engineering changes, standardize controls architecture, identify automation upgrades/cost reductions, ensure OSHA/machine-safety compliance, support risk assessments and safety PLC/interlocks..

What we are looking for

· Bachelor’s degree in EE, ME, Automation, Mechatronics or comparable 

· 5+ years’ experience in automotive (parts) manufacturing environment 

· Experience in JIT production environment preferred 

· Must know RS Logix and Allen Bradley PLC 

· Hands-on experience with industrial robots. 

· Strong troubleshooting skills in manufacturing environments. 

· Project management in new automation installs preferred 

· Ability to read electrical schematics and control drawings. 

· Fluent English
